Privacy Policies

I am very aware of the sensitive nature of the topic of this blog and I am committed to protecting your privacy. Below is a description of what is collected and how it is used, but here is the summary. In short, I will never ask you to provide any information about yourself simply for being here. You can voluntarily participate through comments or you can contact me, and that will require providing minimal personal information about yourself, as described below, which I will never share with other parties except as necessary to carry out the functions of running the website (e.g., if you sign up for the posts, the service that stores E-mail addresses will use them to carry out this task). Also, as is the norm with most websites, some data is collected about your device and browsing habits while you are here that is used in aggregate to run the website.

Website

The website address for Fairy Tale Shadows is: https://fairytaleshadows.com

Information You Voluntarily Submit to the Website

You may voluntarily submit information to the website by leaving a comment, subscribing to posts, submitting a post for publication, or submitting a contact form. In addition, you are able to create a user profile on WordPress, which allows you to create a username and password. The username will be stored, but your password will not be visible in our records.

If you create a user profile or leave a comment, certain information may be publicly visible. To create a user profile, you must choose a username and password and input your email address for profile confirmation. This is voluntary. At your option, you may also add an avatar, a profile description, and a link to your website. Your email address will never be available publicly whether you choose to make a profile or not.

I may occasionally use your messages that contain thoughts or opinions about the website in promotional material, however, personal details about your life will be omitted and your identity will not be revealed (if it is known). If you do not want your words to be used or included, please let me know.

If you submit a story to be published on the website, your identity will not be revealed unless you choose to use your real name as the author. This is your choice. You have the right to have your story removed at any time.

Advertising

Below is a description of the advertising programs I participate in, which help me to fund the cost of hosting and managing the website so I can continue to write original content for free.  Thank you for your support!

Display Ads

I use third-party advertising companies to serve content and advertisements when you visit the website, which may use cookies, as noted above.  I currently use Mediavine, a company dedicated to helping content creators sustain the work they do to develop high-quality content while ensuring that user experience is a top priority.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising

The Website uses Mediavine to manage all third-party advertising on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website. The cookie may collect information relating to your use of the Website, information about your device such as the device’s IP address and browser type, demographic data and, if you arrived at the Website via a link from a third-party site, the URL of the linking page.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site.

The Website may collect IP addresses and location information to serve personalized ads and pass it to Mediavine. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit https://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp.
