Notes From Kristen

Laws governing the Internet require that I have one of these pages, which is a good thing because these policies protect all of us. Below are some legal things you might want to know concerning what information about you this website collects, how it gets used, and how you can use the information posted here.  Thanks for visiting!

Terms of Use

All rights reserved, however, you are welcome to distribute, link to and reference the articles, charts, graphs or ideas contained within them with attribution to the author (whether myself or a guest poster) and/or proper citation or link to the material and website.

The information, descriptions, and suggestions offered on this website should not replace or be used as a substitute for advice given to you by a medical professional.  If you are in need of medical, health, psychological or psychiatric care, assistance or consultation, please seek out a licensed medical professional for care and assistance.

Privacy Policies

I am very aware of the sensitive nature of the topic of this blog and I am committed to protecting your privacy. Below is a description of what is collected and how it is used, but here is the summary. In short, I will never ask you to provide any information about yourself simply for being here. You can voluntarily participate through comments or you can contact me, and that will require providing minimal personal information about yourself, as described below, which I will never share with other parties except as necessary to carry out the functions of running the website (e.g., if you sign up for the posts, the service that stores E-mail addresses will use them to carry out this task). Also, as is the norm with most websites, some data is collected about your device and browsing habits while you are here that is used in aggregate to run the website.

Information You Voluntarily Submit to the Website

You may voluntarily submit information to the website by leaving a comment, subscribing to posts, or submitting a contact form. In addition, you are able to create a user profile on WordPress, which allows you to create a username and password. The username will be stored, but your password will not be visible in our records.

If you create a user profile or leave a comment, certain information may be publicly visible. To create a user profile, you must choose a username and password and input your email address for profile confirmation. This is voluntary. At your option, you may also add an avatar, a profile description, and a link to your website. Your email address will never be available publicly whether you choose to make a profile or not.

Automatically-Collected Information

The website automatically collects certain anonymous information about you and the device with which you access the website. For example, when you use the website, your IP address, operating system type, browser type, referring website, pages you viewed, and the dates/times when you accessed the website will be collected. The information collected is used in aggregate in a variety of website maintenance functions.

How the Information Collected Is Used

Any information collected and described above may be used in the following ways:

  • To operate and maintain the website, such as finding and repairing dysfunctional aspects of the website;
  • To create your account, if desired;
  • To send you website communications, such as new posts or updates;
  • To respond to your comments or inquiries;
  • To track and measure advertising on the website;
  • To protect against and investigate any unauthorized or illegal activity.

Third-Party Use of Personal Information

The website may use third-party service providers to perform various functions. Each third-party service provider’s use of your personal information is dictated by their respective privacy policies.

The website currently uses the following third-party service providers:

  • Google Analytics – this service tracks website usage and provides data such as what pages users click on and referring links. Google Analytics may capture your IP address, but no other personal information is captured by Google Analytics.
  • Mail Chimp – this service stores your email address if you have indicated you would like to sign up to follow the blog and is used for the purpose of delivering new posts.  Please refer to Mail Chimp’s privacy policy for further information.

At this time, your personal information is not shared with any other third-party applications. This list may be amended from time to time in my sole discretion to carry out additional website functions or change service providers.

Except when required by law, I will not sell, distribute, or reveal your email addresses or other personal information without your consent.

This website uses “cookies,” which is information stored on your computer that your browser will display each time you return to a website. Cookies are used to store data you have already entered so you do not have to do so multiple times, to track what pages you may visit, and to display your preferences.  If you do not wish to use cookies, please adjust your web browser settings to disable them prior to visiting the website. Users who deactivate cookies should be aware that all functions of the website may not be usable.

Below is a description of the advertising programs I participate in, which helps me to fund the cost of hosting and managing the website. Thank you for your support!

Display Ads

I may use third-party advertising companies to serve content and advertisements when you visit the website, which may use cookies, as noted above. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit

Affiliate Program Participation

I participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program that allows participants to refer visitors to their website to relevant products. If you click on any of the affiliate links within a post or page on the website, I will earn a small commission at no cost to you. The commission is paid by Amazon and has no effect on the price you pay for the item.
