He was innocent, naïve, didn’t know what a relationship was, didn’t understand women, etc. I also laughed it off, for the same reasons. I was strong. I was independent. It didn’t affect me, at first. I felt like I had to explain basic human relationships and social niceties. It almost felt comical. I wondered how anyone could really not understand these things? How anyone could be so openly manipulative without realising it. There were games, but I just thought he was immature in some ways. I knew a little of narcissists, but not really. He was shy, endearing and more, until he wasn’t. Totally agree with the last comment that it’s when they get into your heart that compromises are made. I am so lucky it never got too far. I’ve learned a lot though and hope that next time I’ll see it all for what it is immediately.
