I have been married to my husband for 10 years and have known him for 12 and a half years. I am 55 years old. He has 3 children with his first wife and a daughter with another woman.. we have no children together…I filed for divorce last March and he talked me into holding off and going to marriage counseling to try to save the marriage… this is a second marriage..I have two grown children from my first marriage.. marriage counseling for 4 months lasted 4 months and was a waste of my time as he could not take accountability for his controlling, jealous mean spirited behaviors towards me. He was convinced that every man in society was wanting me or vice versa. He spoke poorly about my children and has always felt he was entitled to everything I brought to the marriage. I told him to leave this ost December and he did. I am struggling with depression and can’t stop thinking about him. He uses intimidation when we speak to try to settle him getting money out of court. Sad and confused and mentally beaten down!!
Any suggestions would help!! I do go to therapy but I don’t feel any better..

As are all your articles. Prior to finally leaving him him for good I had considered manipulating my narcissist, upon learning just abusive he was to women before me. Thoughts of a ‘plan’lasted maybe a day. Because like you described so well here, I also had too great an ability to become and stay genuinely invested in the man I loved.
I do know that one of his exes was brilliantly successful in escaping him (Needed to get HER money back) It was thru a several month long spell of manipulation. While I don’t believe she is a narcissist like he claims her to be, she does have some narcissistic traits that Made her capable of achieving her goal. She nailed him good. Not every girl has been so lucky.
